Merwitch Studio

This project follows my efforts as I downsize and change my lifestyle in order to become more eco-friendly. The intended goal of this creative expedition is for me to come to understand all the ways that I am affecting my surroundings and how to better live within the environment. Furthermore, in a future phase of this project, I plan to design, construct, and live in a tiny house that is both efficient and has a smaller footprint on the earth.

 

All of the items catalogued here in this display are the belongings that I have brought with me from my parents’ house. These are the things that I believed I would need with me to live functionally at this moment in time. As I looked through my many belongings while documenting them through photography, it became much easier to see what is unnecessary.

 

In the illustration of my current dorm room, only the furniture I have been assigned and/or use has been labeled. The diagram of the tiny house represents the design I have most recently decided upon, however it will most likely evolve by the end of this project as I continue to simplify how I live.
